Frequently Asked Questions About Competitive Generation Supply
1.If I procure my electricity through Collective Energy will my utility company still deliver and manage the power?
Answer: Yes. Both Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and United Illuminating (UI)are stilled regulated by the CT DPUC and are required to deliver power to all CT electricity customers.
2.So, if I have a problem with my power I continue to contact the same organizations I do now.
Answer: Yes. In case of a power outage or line problem you should call either CL&P at 1-800-286-2000 or UI at 1-800-722-5584.
3.If I procure my electricity from Collective Energy, who will actually supply the power?
Answer: In order to supply electricity to CT users a generation supply company must be licensed by the CT DPUC. Collective Energy only works with suppliers licensed and approved by the DPUC. The actual supplier will always be clearly identified during the enrollment process and will be listed on your electric bill.
4.Will
I get a separate bill from Collective Energy or the generation
supplier?
Answer: No. You will continue to
get a single bill from either CL&P or UI.
5.What are the fees and charges for switching?
Answer: None.There are no fees or charges for switching.
